Emberfall Chronicle
Emberfall Chronicle is the kind of mobile RPG that respects your time but still gives you plenty to sink into. Combat is turn-based and readable, so you can plan a fight at a bus stop without getting ambushed by twitch reflexes. The writing has a dry sense of humor that kept us reading dialogue we'd normally skip.
The crafting is the hidden star. You gather herbs and scrap, break down old gear, and slowly build a kit that fits your playstyle. None of it needs a server, and your save lives on the phone, so a flaky connection never interrupts a dungeon run.
It's not flawless — the middle chapters drag a little — but the companion characters and the gorgeous painted backgrounds carried us through. Easily one of the better offline RPGs we've played this year.
