Legends of Slots: more puzzle than you'd think

I'll admit I almost skipped Legends of Slots based on the name alone. It sounds like something I'd scroll past. But a friend kept telling me the art was worth a look, so I installed it on a train with no reception — and it just worked, which is already a point in its favor.

The game is a symbol-matching puzzle dressed up as a collection quest. You arrange themed icons across a board, complete sets, and each set unlocks a short animated clip about a 'legend' — a knight, a storm spirit, that sort of thing. The tapping is light and the feedback is snappy. There's a small layer of planning in deciding which symbols to chase first, which kept me more engaged than I expected.

Legends of Slots isn't trying to be a hundred-hour epic. It's a five-minutes-at-a-time game, and it's honest about that. The animated vignettes were the thing that pulled me back — the hand-drawn style has real personality, and I wanted to see the whole cast.

My one gripe is that the difficulty plateaus around chapter six, so later boards feel samey. Still, for an offline casual puzzle, it does far more right than wrong. If you like short, pretty, low-stress games, give it an hour.
